Our Lenten series will be “Again and Again: A Lenten Refrain.” Our theme reminds us that again and again, struggle and brokenness find us. Again and again, we mess up, come face to face with our humanness, and wrestle with doubt and pain. Again and again, that story of Jesus on the cross repeats itself when we forget how to love, in moments of injustice and personal anguish, in grief and in violence. But, again and again, God reaches out to us, breaks into this cycle and offers us new life. Again and Again, we lift our prayers, hopes, doubts and brokenness up to God and God offers us a new way forward reminding us that we are chosen and that we can be mended.  Again and again, love persistently breaks through.

Ash Wednesday

Join us for Virtual Worship on February 17 at 7:00 p.m. on LMC's YouTube Channel. If you  would like ashes for use during the worship service, please visit us at LMC on February between noon and 12:30 p.m. or 4 and 5 p.m. to pick up a container of ashes. One container is enough for a family.

If you would prefer, you may impose your ashes when you pick them up and Pastor Lindsay will bless you.

Lenten Devotional Book

Sanctified Art has created a beautiful devotional booklet to accompany this season's Lenten theme. Contact the office (office@lmcchicago.org) to receive an electronic copy of the devotional by email or to arrange to pick up a physical copy. Copies will also be available when we distribute ashes on February 17 at noon and 4 p.m.

Lunch with Luther

On Wednesday, we gather virtually at noon for discussion and community. During Lent, we will use artwork and reading from the Again and Again series to ground our discussions. Contact Pastor Lindsay (pastorlindsay@lmcchicago.org) to be added to the Lunch with Luther Zoom invitation.

Open Sanctuary

Beginning on February 24, the LMC Sanctuary will be open for prayer and contemplation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday in Lent. Capacity will be limited to 10 people at a time, so we ask that you please limit your visit to 15 minutes. Masks required. Please enter and exit through the main Sanctuary doors.

40-Day “Love Builds Up” Family Challenge

This Lent, LMC invites families with children to the practice of Lent with a fantastic resource from saltproject.org. The hope is that in practicing treating ourselves and others the way that God sees and treats us – with love – we will get our spiritual and emotional muscles into shape for Easter. Contact Deaconess Claire (family@lmcchicago.org) to receive a copy of the resource.

PreK 3 – 2nd Grade Sunday School

In our virtual Sunday School for our younger grades, children go on a journey to Easter. Each week they’ll meet a new person whom Jesus met on the way to Jerusalem, the cross, and the empty tomb. All sessions can be found on LMC’s YouTube channel.
