As Chicago hits "pause" on Phase IV of reopening, you may be wondering when will we be able to worship in person at LMC. Council, staff, and several additional volunteers have been giving this question lots of thought. For the time being, we have concluded that we will not consider in-person worship in our sanctuary until the end of the summer. Not only to we want to be cautious and careful of the continued risks of COVID-19, many of you know that our sanctuary gets very hot in the summer and it’s difficult to ventilate. Rest assured that, when we do begin to worship again in our sanctuary, we will take care to sanitize the space, assist folks with social distancing, and take all of the proper required and recommended precautions. In the meantime, Council and staff are exploring options to invite groups of people under 10 (or small groups should we move to phase 4) to meet outdoors for small group connection. In order to include all members of the congregation, we anticipate including virtual elements in our church life for some time going forward. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to staff or council with questions.
In the meantime, we are considering some outdoor, in-person gatherings for worship. We invite you to add your opinion on outdoor worship by clicking below to take a short survey.
